Sears ” White Box” Compact Door Chime 1975
In the 1970s, efforts to drive down costs and simplify the home, doorbells were fading into the walls. Doorbells were becoming commodities.
Finished in a white, Mediteranean Revival style case with a gold foil band, this chime still had a bit of style. Later “commodity” or “white-box” door chimes, would dispense with just about all ornamentation entirely.
